This error code H505 appears when a user is trying to open a company file which is not located on their computer. To rectify this error you need to verify the hosting process, follow the steps below:
 Open QuickBooks and go to ‘files’ and select ‘utilities’.
 Click on the ‘stop using multi-user Access’ option.
 Repeat this for all the computers except the host computer.

The QuickBooks error H505 occurs when you are trying to work with the company file that is located on different PC, but additional installation and setup is required that PC.
To fix this try changing the locations of the QuickBooks folder, if this won’t works then try check if both the computers are hosting the same file.
Follow the steps to do so:
1. Open Quickbooks on both the system that are configured as the multi-user.
2. On both the PC select the File and select the Utilities>Stop Hosting Multi User Configuration.
3. Then turn on hosting on any one of the PC by File > Utilities > Host Multi User Configuration.
4. After that restart both the Quickbooks.
