Using the AB Discussion column in a task list. When an email is sent to the assigned personnel html tags are included in the email. Can I strip out the tags? (see attached)

Hello,

Some notification alerts display custom columns values which are usually in raw internally used format. This was just the case. Two fields contain raw values.
We will try to find whether it is possible to make it more human readable, but we are quite skeptic on this. I'll put the investigation results in this topic in a day or two.

Eugene,

Were you able to determine whether the discussion column can be used and read easily in this situation? This sharepoint feature with the discussion column is a bit unusable this way.

Hello,

We've found the way how to remove unnecessary data from notifications and to insert usable one. So, right now we are implementing this new approach. We are going to release updated component on Monday.

I updated the Discussion column to 1.51 following the user guide contained in the download and performed an iisreset. There appears to be a change in the tags being shown:

;#<data> - shown in old version but not in new version

<span id> - shown in new version but not in old version


Have I missed something during the upgrade?

Hello Bill,

Great that you've updated and you've seen changes in markup.
But, since you've upgraded and not used fresh install you are experiencing incorrect behavior during data representation.
To fix this you need to enter column setting and simply press OK to update and save column setting to SharePoint DB.
After this operation new notifications will be sent formatted.

You should not see markup in totally new discussions (created explicitly with Discussion v1.51).

Spoke too soon. The list view now shows all tags. Please advise unworkable in this state.

Hello Bill,

This issue should not occur to freshly created list of latest version of Discussion column.
If there is an ability to remove existing column which shows incorrect behavior and create new one please do.
We'll investigate the issue with the upgrade scenario which is not trivial case.
I will post an update in this thread end of the week.

There are hundreds of list items currently. The main component of each item are the two discussion columns. If I remove them all the data will also be removed. 2e

To refresh column representation please enter column setting and simply press OK to update and save column setting to SharePoint DB.
